Nature Spirits

The Sabian symbol for the full moon eclipse that occurred this morning 15-16 degrees of Aries is:

“Nature spirits seen at work in the light at sunset”

sunset-fairy-angel

This symbol represents attunement to the potency of invisible forces of nature. It is also about reconnecting us with our innocence and childlike sense of wonder. Can you remember what it was like to make believe that anything was possible? When everything in nature was alive, each flower with its own personality, each water droplet, each rock and each blade of grass its own story to tell? We are reminded now to take a pause in the adult, rather dry hustle and bustle of our routines to connect with the soul of nature. Isn’t it also so that we try too hard sometimes to consciously control and direct our lives without accessing our deeper, subconscious and superconscious wisdom? The more immersed we are in nature, the easier it become to access the so-called invisible forces within and around us…those forces in operation that we cannot normally see because we are too intent on doing this or that, becoming quite embittered when things don’t pan out the way we want.

The sunset symbolizes a sense of personal fulfillment that is realized when our defenses have dropped, and we can surrender to the closing chapters of a long day or week. It’s easier for most people to express their natural selves when they’re less charged up and more relaxed. Perhaps this is a opportune moment to relax your tight shoulders, heavy mind or heart, and to simply breathe, and be. If you live close to a stream, some trees or other greenery you might seek refuge there, and otherwise imagination will do just fine. In these sacred moments of quietude, your vision may become heightened. Inspiration may come. The rustling of the leaves in the breeze or the patterns formed in clouds can be the nature spirits’ ways of communicating with us, if we but stop to pay attention.

At this time of year leading up to Samhain (October 31st) the invisible world is increasingly being made visible, and the visible phenomena we are accustomed may become invisible. Everything animate and inanimate has its own invisible aura, its own “forcefield” around it that we brush against or interact with both while awake and while we sleep. Now, in this moment, you may wish to reflect on what it is that you’d like to become more consciously aligned with. Is there a particular aspect of nature that you would like to connect with, manifest, or heighten within yourself? There is a being, a devic consciousness of that aspect of nature that is available whenever you decide to make the connection.

Aries Lunar Eclipse 2014

The Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse and full moon is 15 degrees of Aries, in conjunction with the planet Uranus, and all of this is stirring quite a raucous within interpersonal relationships of both the romantic and business varieties. The knowing that things have got to change around here is full on up on the table for discussion and most of all for taking action. Relationships already on a going well curve are being recalibrated to their next highest levels of expression and cooperation while those that are on the rocks are crumbling fast and hard. Drive extra safe this week, as with Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio and this bloody eclipse to boot, people are breaking up, cracking up, and blowing up at warp speed.

This eclipse is the second of a lunar tetrad that began on April 14th and will end in September of 2015. The Aries Full Moon brings us rippling waves of rage, interspersed with moments of WTF, IMHO, OMG, and “get the f–k out of my way!” She’s pure, honest, bullet-proof, and to the point. If you’ve had trouble getting the point lately, it could be that somebody or something is kicking you from behind until you get it. If someone else important to you doesn’t seem to get it and they need to asap, it could help to exercise a bit of emotional restraint in conjunction with taking a firm stand for your cause. In other words, don’t blow your top in a moment of rage that you might regret for a long time to come.

Pluto’s placement between the full moon holds us taut like rugged stones in a slingshot, ready to be flung into the great and terrifying unknown, which far more of us are ready for than we have been in ages. We’re at the peak of a kite formation involving the fire trine with Jupiter, Uranus, and Mars, and the Sun, North Node and Venus in Libra opposite of the Lunar Eclipse conjunct Uranus and the South Node. It is a Horse year in Chinese astrology and we are now in the presence of the constellation Pegasus getting ready for flight!

The eclipsed Full Moon conjoins the fixed star Alpheratz, which is shared between the constellations Andromeda and Pegasus. Alpheratz, a purplish white star located at the opening of the top of the the “Chained Woman’s” head is actually named after “the horse’s navel” in Arabic. It just goes to show how our myriad perceptions of a single thing can differ so greatly and yet their intrinsic meanings are often so similar, particularly in the way stellar patterns are reflected back to us. Alpheratz is an area that symbolically triggers a transcendental consciousness within us, awakening our latent capacities for breaking through mental and emotional forms of bondage that have previously blocked our ability to travel freely through time and space, by ways of spontaneous visionary or psychedelic experiences, weird Uranian experiences (being so close to this planet and all!), “transpersonal psychology” and astral projection. This star has been conjunct Uranus most of the year, involved in the Cardinal Grand Crosses and will be lighting the fires both under and above us until the March Equinox of 2015. An urgency to move beyond our past and current limitations is growing stronger by the hour.

Some people are breaking free from the chains of emotional constraint in their relationships while others seem to be caving in under the pressure for much needed change or divorce. Many singles and couples alike are realizing that they need to find another way to collect funds and coexist financially, because the economy has continued to crash over the past several months, leaving people without jobs, homes, and in some cases identities. Venus in Libra opposite of the eclipse and approaching the North Node suggests people moving into relationships or evolving their current ones into states that are more reflective of who they are, rather than issues they’re trying so desperately and painfully to resolve. Relational pain is getting so old, so fast. So many have gone through it a thousand times before, now it’s time to “get over it” and for life to go on!

Damsels in Distress and Warrior Princesses

The archetypal energies and historical figures that may be associated with the Moon in Aries run the gamut from Pocahontas to Wonder Woman to Pandora. Xena, the Warrior Princess personifies the Moon in Aries at her fiercest, while Princess Leia of Star Wars at is an aspect of the Arian lunar goddess that is slick but still needs some rescuing.

Whether we witness or experience some form of victimhood or injustice at this time there is more than likely an element of competition at its core. Somebody else wants it more, wants to do it better or wants to believe that they are the best at something. Others may simply be fed up with the fuss and make a run for it, more like a mad dash for escape with debris flying in the air behind them.

The distressed damsel cries for freedom and mercy while the lunar warrior charges ahead without care for consequences. Both of these feminine energies or aspects of the Dark Goddess are present in both men and women and have arisen to help resolve some of our deepest inner conflicts with ourselves that too often have been projected outwardly to partners and other irritating people in our lives.

This is what it will be like (and already is) for some folks, – trippin hard during the “luny” eclipse coming up this Wednesday, October 8th, illustrated by one of the ultimate Uranian and eclipsed damsels in distress:

Darkness and Desire, The Arian Lunar Eclipse

We have a full moon lunar eclipse at 25 degrees of Aries this Friday the 18th. Eclipses can be deeply evocative as well as provocative, bringing us many strange sensations and enigmatic experiences that we are forced to reckon with in some way, even several days or weeks prior to the eclipse. As the shadow of the Earth passes over the face of the Moon, our own shadows become revealed to us, and may seem consuming, larger than life itself. We are challenged to awaken the parts of ourselves that have been hypnotized, numbed, immobilized or slumbering, to become aware of the energies at play and the choices before us.

What is currently being awakened in us are our own latent desires, particularly those that have been stuffed, repressed, or tucked away in the back of our hearts and minds for a very long time. The pressure it takes to keep such desires in check is bound to snap at some point, as there comes a time when ready or not we must acknowledge both our needs and desires. Desires can only be ignored until something, or someone triggers their presence within the light of our consciousness. These desires become twisted shadows when we continue to suppress them, try to gloss over them or replace them with what we think ought to be in their place. The desires then become laden with fear, as we shame ourselves for having them in the first place. What was once our desire and enthusiasm or a legitimate but unmet need now registers as intense fear and anxiety that holds us back, destroys our relationships, and warps our movements. Our misguided attempts to control our desires and emotions lead us astray. This alone is one of the underlying causes of cheating, lying and perversity. Yet, we must press on.

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”. – John Lennon

The sign of Aries highlights the power of our desires and impulses, while helping us to muster up the guts, brains, and brawn we may need in order to face the great unknown. The polarity of Aries/Libra is about the balanced give and take in any working partnership, whether this is through marriage, friendship, business or something other. It also represents the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind – the inner and outer expressions of the Self – the aspect that passively watches and listens, and the aspect that speaks and acts.

The Arian eclipse is indirectly trined by its ruling planet Mars in Virgo which gives us fuel to change what needs changing, however uncomfortable that might be. Directly opposite of Mars is Neptune with Chiron alongside in Pisces, emphasizing the internal cleansing that is taking place. Many are finding that their spiritual and religious beliefs are being challenged between this aspect and the eclipse’s square to Jupiter and the Black Moon Lilith in Cancer, which also indicate it’s time to stop the madness of trying too hard, pushing up hill, or holding too much in our hearts, purses, or closets. Here is Jupiter’s handy dandy advice for the holidays: Don’t just chat about your possible mega breakthrough or vacation a thousand times over tea and crumpets or bong rips like a “someday” sort of pipe dream – forever planning and never really getting anywhere close to where you want to go. Pack a bag, keep it light, and go! We know deep down inside who we are, what we are doing, what we want, what we are capable of and what we have access to. For now, we must surrender on the conscious level to not having all of our questions answered. Again, this means giving up the struggle for control, the trying too hard, the ceaseless seeking out of something that constantly seems to elude us – this is in fact another form of resistance. Some things appear to be moving too fast, while others too slow. These are illusions – all based on resistance. In blunt terms, it’s not only time to piss or get off the pot, but it’s time to get off the cross or die to the old way of living.

One strong theme that many are aware of now is the breaking down of existing structures that have outlived their course, even though a new more solid or reliable structure has not necessarily become apparent. We must let go and trust that even if we let go of the handle bar, or let go of our prized collection of wounds, we will not fall, scrape and bruise ourselves anew. We will – eventually – find that we can fly! The free-floating anxiety the uncertainty of this creates can cause a variety of physical sensations such as dizziness, nausea, and muscle fatigue. Our planet and collective consciousness is seeking a sort refuge at this time, in order to repair and transform itself from the inside out. We are shedding as the snake sheds its skin, as masks and projections are falling away – no longer serving to hide flaws and shortcomings as they once did. However, this does not mean it is time to point our fingers at what appears to be ugly or to blame anyone else for what appears to be going wrong. It seems so easy for some people to start a riot based on a bitter experience they had without considering the part they played and continue to play in the unfolding drama of their lives. The energy we are faced with now is not about tattling, ratting on, or gossiping about what others are doing or not doing. It’s not about beating ourselves up either. Contrary, it is a time of picking up the pieces of our own lives, like long-lost pieces of a puzzle just found, settling our accounts, clearing our slates, taking responsibility for what we are creating as our so-called reality.

Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen for simply following her desire for education (while returning home on a school bus), serves as a shining example of how we can make a difference in the world by being ourselves and standing up for what we believe in despite outside attacks. Although she was born under a Cancer sun, her survival and biography also highlight some of the highest Arian qualities – autonomy, bravery, passion, and spiritual strength.

The Sabian symbol for the Sun’s energy in this eclipse is:

“An Eagle And A Large White Dove Change Into Each Other”

This symbol, similarly to the yin-yang represents that consciousness that operates beyond duality, functioning as one, which is the ultimate goal and expression of Libra, where the Sun is currently transiting. The Eagle here represents power and will, while the dove is peace and love. Together these combined forces make anything that we can collectively desire and envision possible.

The Sabian symbol for the point of the eclipse itself:

“A Man Possessed Of More Gifts Than He Can Hold”

Sometimes when we see the mountain we must climb we just want to be on the other side already. We may try to go under or around it, to no avail. We don’t want to give up certain valuables or habits but sometimes they are too heavy for us to carry, but when we finally let them go, we find that they were not as valuable as we had imagined. Our ability to move and to soar is heightened because we have lightened our load. Wherever the eclipse occurring in your own chart is an area where you will be required to let go of something that isn’t working and hopefully to rather tune in to what is divinely inspired.

It is always darkest just before the dawn, and the brightness of a solar eclipse follows this lunar eclipse on November 3rd. We are moving into the darker half of the year, with several planets retrograde, so it may be that over the next three months or so we are preparing for what gifts are yet to be fully expressed or shared with the world. In this preparatory stage there is much to be released in order to make way for what is yet to come. At this time let us acknowledge to ourselves and each other who we truly are and what we truly desire. Let us forgive ourselves with the knowing that sometimes we have to get super clear about what we don’t desire first, to be confident about what we do desire. Honesty will set us free!
