“Power serves others, whereas force is self-serving. True statesmen serve the people; 10 politicians exploit people to serve their own ambitions. Statesmen sacrifice themselves to serve others; politicians sacrifice others to serve themselves.”
― David R. Hawkins, Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior, author’s Official Revised Edition
The New Moon falls at 26 degrees of Aries on April 15th, in a conjunction with Uranus at 28 degrees, just hours after Mercury stations Direct at 4 degrees in this same powerhouse of a sign, triggering shock wave effects. The Sun and Moon are squared to Pluto in Capricorn while Mercury moves into a third square to Saturn in Capricorn this year, exact on the 25th. This New Moon carries blatant tones of aggression, bringing up uncomfortably heated situations and a need to clear up miscommunications. Much that is occurring now and that is to come over the next few days may seem sudden and unbidden. Not all of these things are bad but let’s first look at the obvious…
Within the matrix of the current power structure, there is senseless violence masked as self-defense, such as the continued attack and devastation of Syria. Fewer people on this planet trust in government anymore. There is talk of “black hats” attacking us and “white hats” coming to our rescue, all the while at war with each other. Real motives are concealed out of necessity, and it’s hard for anyone to know what’s really going on behind the scenes. On some level these invisible powers represent aspects of our own consciousness – the devil and the angel – the good and evil within, with each thought and action contributing to the duality and ongoing drama of our earthly lives.
Meanwhile the Wounded Healer, comet Chiron is preparing to exit his 8 year transit through Pisces and to enter Aries on April 18th. Aries is the Greek god of war, and in the Zodiac the sign named after him is ruled by Mars, the planet named after the Roman god of war. You get the idea. It doesn’t mean that’s all there is to this fire sign but it’s very masculine nature means this transit is not going to encourage taking a back seat, turning the other cheek or waiting for something to come along. It means that if something is desired it will be sought after, whether with good or ill intent. There may also be sharp lessons occurring about what is under our/or one’s own control and what is not. How do you cope when you realize you can’t fix anyone but yourself?
Aries’ ruling planet Mars is currently in Capricorn nearing a conjunction with the Black Moon Lilith. The Black Moon Lilith often highlights sexuality but also sometimes other taboos subjects such as death and destruction. Um…not to mention their closeness to Pluto. This is definitely an unpredictable and potentially dangerous combination, perhaps eased by a separating trine from Venus in Taurus which could symbolically mean the difference between rape and a passionate but fully consensual sexual encounter. When it comes to mundane affairs, everything may have more force or urgency behind it over the next few days. This energy could be so used to accomplish a great deal if properly directed.
Uranus is also nearing the end of a long transit through Aries since March 2011 and enters Taurus on May 16th. Together with Chiron’s passage into Aries there will be many new opportunities for deeper healing or inflictions than known before. This is an incredible time to be alive on planet Earth. More to say on that later. Right now there are enough Mars/Uranus upsets to deal with.
Sabian Symbol for the New Moon between 26-27 deg Aries:
“Through Imagination A Lost Opportunity Is Regained”
The keynote of this symbol is inner revaluation – a shift of attitude brings a shift of reality. For the one who is willing to learn from past mistakes and loss without further regret and self-condemnation, there is hope for long-lost dreams to blossom into manifestation.
