Venus is conjunct the asteroid Isis at 24 degrees of Leo today (July 6th) with Jupiter close behind at 22 degrees. The energy of this combination has been present since the beginning of the month, lingering throughout, and with this I see a powerful resurgence of divine feminine energy. Venus the planet of love, beauty, and prosperity is a particularly prominent influence now as she entered a pre-shadow phase on June 21st, enters Virgo on July 18th, goes Retrograde on July 24th, reenters Leo on the Full Moon of the 31st, and then stations direct in this sign on September 6th. Her post-shadow phase will end by October 8th as she reenters the sign of Virgo.

The super stellium Jupiter/Venus/Isis started off late June, early July in a grand trine with Uranus in Aries and Ixion in Sagittarius. Venus and Isis are sextile Mercury in Gemini today while the Sun in emotional Cancer is opposite Pluto in stern Capricorn, which has been amplifying power struggles, heightening projections and internalizations of opposing forces. For about a week’s time many people have been going off on tirades while others are simply being more vocal about their beliefs, whether in self-defense or in the act of breaking free from tyranny. There are many profound awakenings occurring, and some of them might seem quite “rude”. However, it is a time when corrective measures can also be more easily taken, both verbally and otherwise.

Isis and Osiris by Susan Seddon Boulet

Venus is typically happy in the sunny sign of Leo, where she is often able to express the full gamut of her love and creativity. When she turns Retrograde later this month and throughout August these qualities may turn inward for many, taking the form of renewed passion for familiar projects, interests, and possibly loves from the past. In a similar way, the asteroid Isis represents areas that we may seek to reconnect, restore, reconcile and reunite lost parts of ourselves and others close to us. In the Egyptian myth, after Osiris was torn to pieces by his brother Set, Isis frantically searched the world for all of his parts and eventually put him back together and brought him to life. Venus and Isis together represent the coming together of feminine forces, as well as the retrieval of “lost” fragments of one’s soul. Traced back to their original sources, Venus and Isis may even be one and the same. In Leo they beckon us, both male and female to tune into the Solar aspect of consciousness, and to assert ourselves with dignity and grace.

The intense focus of female energy embodied in a fiery masculine sign is significant for both men and women. In this instance, with Isis present the feminine counterpart helps support or heal the male in some way. On an internal level, the right and left hemispheres of the brain may either come into greater harmony or discord, while the circadian rhythms seek their balance.

In a symbolic sense, Isis is akin to a female Jesus, although she arrived far before his time. As the mother of the sun god Horus she was one of the first mother figures venerated as an incarnation of divinity. Every aspect of Isis is steeped in mystery and magic. The two syllables of her name fascinate us on so many levels, because she IS an inherent part of us. In the dictionary we read that the word genesis simply means the beginning of something, but it is translated by certain scholars as the “Genes of Isis”.  This is said to be where the Book of Genesis took its title.

In my natal chart the asteroids Isis and Osiris are both conjunct my Sun, but I never knew how to interpret this until I gained a deeper understanding of the rich history of them both. In August 2015 these two asteroids will be almost but not quite in conjunction in the sign of Virgo. Jupiter, Venus and asteroid Isis in Leo are currently positioned at the cusp of the 9th house of the US chart, as if the Bible-thumping hasn’t already begun…

Overall, the pairing of Isis and Venus now might be helping us to bring and piece together the things we wish to heal and manifest. This is a great time for solving puzzles or making witch ladders, vision boards, and other magical or artistic renderings of the heart.

Isis Bless!

Jupiter Direct!

The deepest hopes, dreams, wishes of our hearts and souls have slowly been brewing for the past few months and are now showing signs of their readiness for manifestation.

heart_of_lightFrom December 8th 2014 until April 8th 2015 Jupiter was Retrograde in Leo. Since Jupiter is the planet of higher vision, expansion, and all the “good stuff” and its energies have been turned inward, this has been a particularly challenging period of time for many on both emotional and financial levels. It was as though gifts, abilities, and even certain people or objects could not be fully accessed during that time, because they were being processed and related to more on internal levels. The positive side of this Retrograde may have given us a clearer understanding of what truly supports our visions and what blocks our progress so that we can make changes accordingly. In Leo the willpower is strong, as is the desire for love and creative expression. Now that Jupiter has turned direct, it will be easier to express ourselves and experience more of the fiery exuberance that Leo represents along with the simple joys of living.

Although many of the seeds we planted last year are now bearing fruit, they are not quite ripe yet. As with all Retrogrades, we ought to allow a few weeks for Jupiter’s change of direction to “normalize” the associated affairs and any houses and personal planets being transited. Throughout the Summer season, many goals and projects that were put on hold since the holidays will move forward. In early July Jupiter will re-transit 23 degrees where the Retrograde began in December 2014, and there will be a resolution, release, or completion of what was happening at that time.

Big sighs of relief…

The world’s oldest computer…was an astrological device. It was discovered by Greek sponge divers over a century ago and now resides in a museum in Athens.

antikythera_mechanismWhy this should be of any use or interest to us now is clear when we realize that we are currently in the midst of horrific battles and genocide not only dealing with the Middle East but between the abuse of and proper dissemination of knowledge worldwide. But then again, this has been going on since the dawn of recorded time. What computers and warfare have to do with one another is almost so obvious by now that I hesitated to explain.

Before modern day digital clocks, calculators, telescopes, transportation, or the plethora of double-dealing data-distributing and data-mining mechanisms that have been developed over the past century, there existed a particular tool that most people are unfamiliar with because so much is edited out, jumbled up and watered down from the combination of our religious and scientific texts, as well as news broadcasts. No wonder we’ve had more questions than answers about our place in the scheme of things, limited to the bias and filtering of those who taught us as a society what to believe and who to obey. We can try to blame this on Mercury who’s always got a trick up his sleeve, but it won’t solve our puzzles.

The Antikythera mechanism is an ancient analog computer that was found on a shipwreck off the Greek island of Antikythera in 1900, and estimated to have been dated between 150 to 100 BC. With its lower back dial of 223 divisions and a dial displaying the 54 year Triple Saros (aka Exeligmos Cycle), this piece of equipment was obviously designed to predict eclipses and demonstrates astronomical positioning, possibly aligned with Babylonian astrology. Housed in a wooden box and comprised of bronze gears, the antikythera is not only guessed to be world’s oldest known computer but the oldest identified scientific device to date.

In 1900 when this device was first retrieved, Jupiter was in truth seeking Sagittarius. Jupiter there is noted for wild inventions and especially discoveries, sometimes connected with electronics (“first time” inventions are more Uranus’s domain). In 1888 Jupiter was in Sagittarius and Nikola Tesla designed the first modern practical system of generating and transmitting alternating currents for electric power. When the antikythera device was found and first studied Neptune and Pluto were both in Gemini. Great minds like Einstein’s were busy at work and explaining away their finds. The gathering and extensive categorization of knowledge and discovery was at a peak but many wars were yet again broiling underneath the surface of a civilization on the brink of both revolutionary technologies and complete devastation, set up as a distraction against true liberation.

The Second Boer war, the war between America and the Philipines, the war of the Golden Stool between the UK and Ashanti Empire took place the same year the astronomical device was found. All these and Earl Balfour’s plot for ethnic cleaning preceded the Halocaust and World War II. During the Halocaust and war, books were burned in town squares by the orders of Hitler, just as holy cities and libraries were desicrated over the milennia by Crusaders. Now over a century later, we’re dealing with the same phenomenon, convinced that we are somehow more advanced than our ancestors were in interpreting the weather, stars, and each other. We’ve received threats to every aspect of our privacy and personal freedom through the use of social media, including television, cell phones and the use of credit cards.

Situations like these go to show that modern advancement is a double-edged duality-generating sword and always has been. The world’s first war may have occurred the moment we perceived ourselves or were perceived as separate from our Source. I’ll leave the hypotheses up to the experts for now.

Astrology Predates Other Methods of “Telling Time”

Astrological devices have been found all over the world in the form of stone megaliths that are now considered to be sacred sites, such as the spectacular circle of Stonehenge where people gather every Summer Solstice to watch a sunrise perfectly aligned over the stones. How can we just casually brush off the antikythera device as simply a strange tool that our ancestors may have been brilliant enough to devise, when there are very few if any ancient objects we have found in comparison, save a few bronze disks with astrological glyphs engraved upon them?

Part of the planet’s evolutionary process of awakening to greater realities right now that pierce through the barriers between race, gender, and religion relate to the shift into the Age of Aquarius, the shifting of the earth’s poles, and the paradigm shift that we are believed to have made in 2012. We can speculate that Mayans and Egyptians were just super intelligent people or had wild visions due to ingesting psychotropic substances, which gave rise to their numerous pyramidal creations and amazingly accurate mathematical systems, not to mention their awareness of the positioning of stars and planets that were not even visible from Earth, and still aren’t without telescopes. But chalking it up to smarts or drugs is taking the easy way out.

Through it all, astrology in general is becoming more recognized and respected as a legitimate psychology-enhancing tool, with a slightly scientific bent. Finally, it has become widely embraced as not just some bohemian pastime, but as the cosmic compass it was meant to be for humanity and other sentient beings, even by those we wouldn’t normally associate with this field of interest. President Reagan was said to rely on astrology to aid in political decision making (probably our current politicians too), and Hitler made use of it for nefarious ends. MP David Tredinnick acknowledges astrology as a tool for gleaning health insights. I would venture to say that astrology, rather than merely an entertaining or predictive tool could serve as a solution for us to live more peacefully, with tolerance for our differences, and to make wiser choices in time for specific activities and non-activities.

The Bending of Time

Following the British Calendar Act of 1751, Britain adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1752 – the same calendar that was passed on to us. On the evening of September 2nd that year, Britain and its American colonies went to sleep and awoke the next morning, which in some roundabout way had become the 14th. If time can be manipulated in that way, what is it that actually makes us feel bound to its rules?

Why has everything become so predictable, our genocides and mass destruction included? Have we forgotten to look at nature’s patterns, the stars’ patterns, and life’s patterns with curiosity, appreciation, and fresh eyes?

The Mayan year on the 26th started us off with a highly charged New Moon in Leo and with it many Jupiterian surprise. Jupiter deals with expansion, the seeking of truth, higher learning, grand opportunities and stretches in philosophy. Jupiter in Leo will be seen and heard loudly in its approaching trine to Uranus in Aries, along with Saturn entering Sagittarius later this year into next which will probably bring us more awkward moments and terrific questions relative to our relationship with the stars and the Universe that just won’t leave us alone. This could be akin to a massive identity crisis for humanity as a whole. The Antikythera device is not anything new, but it might serve as a symbol of similar discoveries and quests yet to be made in the months ahead.

The New Moon at 3 degrees of Leo on July 26th brings in a long awaited time of renewal, creativity and joy for many. Jupiter, just one degree behind and amping up the Moon’s already potent energy recently entered Leo for a year’s time to help us ligthen up or find productive outlets for our passions. This New Moon coincides with both the Egyptian and Mayan New Year, when the Dog Star Sirius rises just before dawn. In possible alignment with this, it seems that during the Summer months of June and July there is a heightening of many strange extraterrestrial, metaphysical and political occurrences that I would dare say sometimes beat even Halloween’s thinning of the veils.

Although there may be feelings of sorrow, regret, or nostalgia as we transition from the deeply sensitive influences of Cancer leading up to this New Moon, there are rising currents of energy that are coming not only from the heart chakra of the Earth, but that of our Sun and our souls. The Jupiterian energy is beginning to fuel us with the courage, inspiration, and desire to move past our comfort zones and into our joy. After we have fully checked our motivations and made a list of what we would like to manifest, we would do well to

Act as if it were impossible to fail” (Dorothea Brande)

This New Moon being square to Mars may not carry the kind of levity that some may typically associate with brightly shining Leo, because the world is in upheaval and some of us can’t dream of celebrating at a time like this. It does however hold the potential to stimulate our intuition, higher aspirations, ambitions and affections, some with great fire and ferocity. Chances for great affluence and influence are also higher due to the increase of vitality, charisma, and ability to appeal to peoples emotions. This particular moon may also favor the winning of new friendship and allies, which we must choose well, letting our hearts guide us. Mars will have entered Scorpio just the evening before this New Moon so deep perception and healing are simultaneously strengthened now until September 13th.

The New Moon is especially close to the fixed star Al Tarf, in the southern hind foot of Cancer. This star name’s translation is Glance of the Lion’s Eye, denoting both the swiftness and perceptiveness of the Cat or the Crab’s ability to powerfully respond to any form of threat or intrusions into its psychic space or that of its loved ones. With this influence we may find that we have a tenacity and steadfastness that we did not recognize we or others had. With wrong motives or finding ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, we don’t stand much of a chance to survive.  The trespassing of boundaries does not bode well now for anyone.

Now and as the months unfold we will continue to be amazed at the talents and intelligence of very small children and young people voicing themselves and sharing their gifts in the realms of the arts, science, ecology, and politics. Whether we view them as Indigo Children, Rainbow Children, prodigies or the products of a New Earth where we must evolve quicker than ever before or die – we are blessed to be in their presence and must seek to preserve and hold a sacred space for them to carry on once we have passed. We must lead by example rather than by dictatorship, developing fairness and flexibility in our dealings – not an easy task in the sign of Leo.

With this New Moon, may we come to more fully appreciate and express the creative genius that stirs within our souls, and to rekindle both our innocence and our capacity for deep play even in a world that tells us we should always be on guard.

One of the greatest astrological highlights of July 2014 is Jupiter’s entrance into Leo. This occurs on the 16th, around the first quarter moon of the month. It will be transiting this fire sign for just over a year’s time, until August 11, 2015. Jupiter has been in Cancer since June 15th 2013, helping to expand our sense of charity, cosmic consciousness, and connection to cultural roots. The downside could have been being consumed by seemingly uncontrollable emotions. This watery maternal sign heightened our senses and brought us closer together with family or helped to gather provisions and various forms of security for the future.

Jupiter transits are some of the most desirable and adored, for this planet is known to bring blessings, optimism, opportunities and a change of luck for the better. In Leo, Jupiter’s focus is turned outward in the most passionate of ways. It’s time to express the best of our creativity, manifest our joy, and to shine brightly! Leo is ruled by the Sun whose light enables life to thrive on our planet. Jupiter here brings out the solar qualities within us, and nudges us to stretch our limbs and connect with myriad forms of life, living and loving to the fullest.

Some people may need to watch their already inflated egos, which can become exacerbated in the pride-generating sign of Leo. This cool cat can quickly turn aristocrat – at least in its own mind. Those are exactly the kinds of minds that can turn on a dime. For the next  twelve months be especially careful who and what you put your faith in. Trust more in your own self and what resonates as truth within your being.

Leo has rulership over the heart and spine. During the largest planet’s transit through one of the more fiery of signs, we’ll need to grow a stronger spine in some situation or occasion, and we’ll be challenged to act with courage, love, and compassion. The bigger the matters at hand, the best bet is to follow your heart, as both physically and metaphorically there are more neurons going from the heart to the brain, rather than vice versa.  Heart Math Institute has done extensive research in this area.

Leo rules the substance we call gold which can lead many to greed in this world. This is not a money sign per se, but it does bring out the desire to acquire and spend what we call money in our society. While chances are higher now than at other times for hitting the jackpot, gambling is not something I personally encourage people to do, unless they truly know what they are doing (and in that case, good luck!). There is another kind of gold that Leo favors, which is spiritual gold gained only through spiritual aspirations and genuine efforts to improve.

People with their Sun, Rising, and/or other planets in Leo will most likely be quite glad for this transit, and August of 2014 is ripe with opportunities for complete transformation.  Jupiter in Leo encourages parties and celebrations of all kinds, and may also bring a boost of vitality to those who were previously feeling lethargic and weak. Sometimes Jupiter in this sign brings great fame and fortune, but people should not necessarily set their goals on these things, especially if there is no benevolent purpose behind them. We only get dosed with this transit every twelve years, so it is suggested to use this time to pursue your dreams, and dare take a few risks in order to experience great things, rewards and relationships!
