Mars Direct in Scorpio – 2016

Back to the Battlefield

Wherever we find ourselves on the face of this earth, the heat is on with Mars slowing down to go Direct at 23 degrees of Scorpio on June 29th. This may not sound glamorous or even “spiritual”, but it’s high time to sharpen those blades and get back to battle. Not that we had much restfulness lately.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not suggesting or condoning violence in any way, unless of course a life-or-death situation calls for it. The kind of battle referred to here is the kind that we each experience within our souls that get reflected back to us in relationship dynamics that push our buttons and make our blood boil.

Business left unfinished since mid-February of 2016 is coming back around, and if a position of power is not taken, force may be used against us whether we choose to do anything about it or not. On a broad scale this force could take the appearance of a global stock market crash, martial law, or god forbid – a false flag ET alien invasion. Things are so whacked it could even be all of the above.

In the US politics, people are waking up to the reality of just how rigged the voting system is as we are presented with more ridiculous gimmicks than ever before. Many are so weary and desperate for relief they can barely pay attention to what’s really going on.

Is that a snake in your pocket or…?

While stationing Direct Mars has gotten uncomfortably close to fixed star Unukalhai in the heart of the constellation Serpens for the second time this year since Valentine’s day (but just missed the conjunction by one degree). This star has somewhat shady reputation with a war-like, Martian undertone. It can indicate violence, vindictiveness, and lies, especially the kind that sound pretty convincing as they are strategically slipped into conversations and situations at the most uncanny times.

Maybe you caught someone lying to you this year, or maybe vice versa. Many who take the time to read through my articles have certainly caught on to the Big Lie that had been fed to us through the media ever since before white Wonder bread began. The most convincing liars are like snakes in the grass, blending in with the colors of the environment. You don’t expect to see them, and you often don’t see their attacks coming until it’s too late.

Unukalhai, like Saturn square Neptune (from November 2015 until November 2016) exposes toxic drugs and poisoning. This year in the US we have witnessed a fight to release the film Vaxxed since April 1st along with the fight for proper GMO labeling which is coming to a head.

“Hey, what if I never asked for this war (or this fight, or this conflict)?”

If a single criminal or gang came marching or slithering in to destroy, rape, or steal your family and what’s yours would you would probably not stand there and hammer about how you didn’t sign up for this, but you would either hide or go out and fight. Except for those people out there who are doing fantastic and feeling quite fluffy right now (way to go!) those of us experiencing and/or witnessing massive or local crime don’t even have a moment to spare on wondering the age old question: “Why me?”

Ultimately, we are own worst enemy, and our own greatest savior. I have felt rather forced to come to terms with this several times through the years. Now that I comprehend it so well, I can never go back to the particular state of ignorance sometimes called victimhood, and the responsibility that comes with this awareness occasionally feels excruciatingly heavy. This heavy feeling is what humans will do or pay anything they own or anything they think they own, to avoid. For this avoidance, an even heavier toll is taken.

Third Eye Opening

“Prying open my third eye.

So good to see you once again.

I thought that you were hiding.

And you thought that I had run away.

Chasing the tail of dogma.

I opened my eye and there we were”

Intuitive faculties become very acute with Mars in Scorpio, so if there has been veil over certain issues during the past two and a half months during the Retrograde the hidden will soon become revealed – but with Saturn still squaring Neptune, don’t expect things to be completely obvious in every way. With Mars in the mix, blazing moments of insight may come as sharp pangs in the side or perhaps they’ll appear as visual sparks.

Just because intuition and psychic abilities may be present does not mean that compassion, wisdom, and true power simultaneously coexist with those psychic abilities. We have numerous examples of this throughout history. The danger with this placement is that someone, or several people such as those nefarious characters of the matrix lumped together under the title of Illuminati uses the knowledge of others’ weakness as weapons against them. Those of us who know enough about ourselves will not fall prey to such tactics used against us, meaning certain degrees of what may be termed brutal honesty and self-appraisal may be prerequisites for self-defense. Most will not venture into that uneasy grey area where the finger is no longer pointed at others but a closer look at role-playing and reactivity is taken.

In my years of doing readings for people as well as working through my own personal issues I have come to recognize that whatever emotions are most prevalent in any given situation, one of the greatest blockages and causes of struggle is the resistance to change. Sometimes we’re afraid to even see what we know deep down inside.

For whatever accumulated reasons, we exert enormous amounts of energy in blocking the inevitable. In the process of this we deny our own power and magnificence, which includes our ability to affect change in the course of our destinies. All of us have taken a fall from Divine Grace at some point.

Return to Grace

In a more positive light the cosmic energy alignments taking place at this time can assist in the transcendence of limited states of consciousness, to comprehend the greater Whole, perhaps even through a triggering of kundalini energy. Yogic practices may have powerful regenerative effects now. The Sun in Cancer highlights our sources of nourishment both physical and spiritual. We are more inclined to reach for the tools and resources that sustain us and enhance our lives.

On June 18th Mars made the second of three transits this year to the fixed star Agena, which brings a counterbalance of favorable results against the odds. Agena is a lot friendlier in its approach than Unukalhai, so as we move into the first week and a half of July this influence will draw allies and help straighten certain affairs that have been awry since April 17th. A trine to Chiron in Pisces is also in effect in July signifying that healing may take place from the woes and wounds incurred during Mars Retrograde. Healing from long-standing illness of any kind could become an important focus.

Venus, consort of Mars, is in Cancer is conjunct Sirius on the 28th through the 30th forms a sextile with Jupiter and the North Node in Virgo and an opposition with Pluto in Capricorn. The influence of Sirius with Venus gives us a deep glimpse into our true motives and the motives of others, which is supported by Jupiter and significantly heightened by contact with Pluto. There may be power struggles or strong projections.  Due to the Cancer and Capricorn polarities as well as Venus still being in the hidden underworld until July 13th there may also be some family muckraking going on. Whether married or single, involved with community or a recluse, to who or what are we loyal may be the great question at this time. What will we do to honor and protect our loved ones?

While Mars switches gears, we’ll have help in stabilizing with a grand earth trine between the Moon, Pluto and Jupiter/NN. With the right attitude and application of energy, anything is possible and miracles may occur.

Mars Retrograde Charms & Cures

Mars in Sagittarius is rearing up to go Retrograde at 8 degrees of Sagittarius on April 17th. The planet of passion, lust, anger and aggression going backward sounds like a scary thing, and although it can be, it can also bring a settling of discordant affairs. Some people may be more agitated right now than usual, and suddenly might not seem like themselves. Others who blow a gasket regularly will be piping down, chilling out, and in some cases will give zero flips about things they probably ought to if they knew what was best for them.

Mars will reenter Scorpio May 27th, deepening emotional sensitivities and possibly turbulence and reactionary behavior. Experiencing setbacks or an inability to fight is common with this influence, which will last until Mars goes Direct at 23 degrees Scorpio on June 29th. The Retrograde starts with fussing and bit of fumigating and then throughout May and June, all hidden drives and motivations are brought to light for better or worse.

Mercury goes Retograde on April 28th so there’s double trouble to contend with for awhile, for those who choose to view things that way. Believe it or not, sometimes things that have been going all wrong can begin to go right during Retrograde phases. Usually, what happens is a combination of the good and bad, just as during any other time in life.

We have the choice now to affirm that we are going to release toxic habits, integrate the lessons learned and reviewed, embody our true selves and give thanks for the help that we receive in the weeks ahead. Whatever the case may be, here are some charms, herbs and flower essences that might help during this very Retrogrady rite of passage we are entering.

Burning-Resin-Incense

Rocks, Crystals and Gems to wear or carry:

Bloodstone – the stone of victory, courage, strength, success in legal matters and healing. In ancient Babylon it was carried to overcome enemies. It has also been carried by soldiers to either avoid wounds or serve as a magical first aid. It has long been believed to help staunch the flow of blood or to bring balance to blood disorders, including menstrual pain.

Flint – Flint, also known as Thunderstone or Elf Shot is a variety of opaque quartz that was sacred to several Native American tribes, used in many of their healing and magical rituals. It was carved into blades and carried as protective amulets. Use this stone to energetically stop all hateful attacks in their tracks.

Garnet  – a red stone associated with the planet Mars. In the 13th century this stone was used to repel insects, perhaps because of its ability to repel many other types of pests. Garnets are worn and carried to increase energy, strength, good fortune, and as a highly protective shield.

Pyrite – a stone of prosperity, luck and protection (in China this stone has been used to guard against crocodile attacks…most of us live free of this worry but one can never be sure)

Herbs & Essential Oils to take or use externally:

Black Pepper – this is a common kitchen spice that is sometimes mixed with salt to purify the home and protect it from harm. It is considered one of nature’s perfect foods by Yogis, used to cure and prevent diseases of the throat and sinuses (disclaimer – I make no medical claims here whatsoever – try any of this at your own risk!). Michael Tierra, author of The Way of Herbs suggests mixing seven ground peppercorns with honey and taking this each morning.

Ginger – a kitchen spice that brings circulation and aids digestion. This root is also used as an aphrodisiac. It can be shredded and added to cooked or raw foods, and it makes a very warming and calming tea.

Peppermint – a mild adaptogenic herb, inhaled via essential oil as a pick-me-upper to clear the sinuses and stimulate the senses by day, calmative and digestive as a tea by night.

Flower Essences to take internally:

Cliff Rose by Desert Alchemy – This is the essence for overcoming procrastination and all the ifs, ands, or buts that prevent one from acting on their goals. It helps to unite the will, intention and power to act.

Gentian by Bach Flower Essences (available at most “health food” stores) – Gentian helps to become more resilient and patient during challenges and to restore faith and optimism after a setback. The “strength to go on” essence.

Holly by Bach Flower Essences (available at most “health food” stores)– Overcoming feelings of jealousy, rage, hatred and other toxic emotions that build up and burst at the seams. Restoring a sense of trust and love.

Resins to burn:

Dragon’s Blood – a reddish resin burned to clear negativity and evil from a space and to protect it from any intrusions. It can also be carried or bits of it sprinkled around the house or property.

Frankincense – this resin highly prized by the ancients raises the vibration wherever it is carried or burned. It exorcises demons and dispels depression.

Ritual Space:

Mangala is the Sanskrit name for Mars, the red planet and the god of war. For those who are so inclined it could may be helpful to create an altar dedicated to this deity and to recite his mantra on Tuesdays: “Om Mangalāya Namaha”

Some people may prefer to dedicate their altar to a different version of Mars or even a feminine one. Whatever one decides, it might be most effective to use a red cloth, candle or other red object on this altar to symbolize Mars.

Wishing everyone a productive and insightful Mars Retrograde…get ready for a wild ride! 😉

Full Moon in Aquarius 8-10-14

The Full Moon at 18 degrees of Aquarius becomes exact at on August 10th. The building currents of energy leading up to this moon have been ferociously beautiful, unnerving, and enlightening in an “in-your-face” kind of way. Rebellion with a capitol R has been revving us up for profound transformation as a global community. We cannot continue to be mesmerized by minor problems, gossip and media without our own worlds shrinking.

Assisted by a thrill-seeking sextile from Uranus, this Moon’s archetypal energy may well be described by Oya, the African goddess of thunder and lightning. Her very presence and actions are said to be like that of the flight of birds, the rustling of leaves, the rolling of waves, the buzzing of bees, the sound of music, and the roar of lions – depending on the time of day and her mood. She is threshold guardian who ushers her followers into a new life, or the afterlife. With an ego-crushing force similar to Kali Ma’s, her rites of passage can be both brutal and kind, sweeping clear obstacles with her howling hurricanes, thunder and lightning.

If we want something to happen and we enlist Oya’s aid, she’ll usually begin by serving us the exact opposite of that thing. She reminds us that something old must be destroyed before something new can be birthed. If we need to relocate, divorce, or buy a new car, she’ll get on the ball with making whatever is dysfunctional in our life no longer available for us to waste our precious time on. She helps us to properly redistribute the energy and level out the relationships in our lives, without the same kind of hemming and hawing as Aquarius’s buddy Libra.

Mars in Scorpio’s approaching square along with a fixed T-square from Saturn to this moon is bringing deep wounds and injustice to light. To Oya, injustice isn’t a matter of conversation but of direct action that many will be compelled to acknowledge and heed. We must carefully consider the ramifications of anything we think, say, or do however, because Aquarius’s sudden impulses can easily get us into trouble. Sensuality and sexual merging are also highlights of Mars in Scorpio, and in contact with the Full Moon. Martian outbursts of energy or neither good nor bad until they have seized control of individuals and nations. Being “possessed” by anger and extreme stress can shorten our telomeres, but conversely utilizing the raw power that Mars represents with a calm intention we can make significant and appropriate change in our lives and on our planet, deepening our love for ourselves, each other and nature.

Oya is also a wielder of fire. Have you ever wished someone who wronged you or others would burn in hell? Chances are they already did, are and will. The greater challenge in this situation is to override the false sense of satisfaction in knowing with a genuine wish for that person to finally be relieved of their suffering. In this way, humanitarian pursuits which are a strong tendency for the Aquarian do not condone the wrongdoings of criminals or people who make grave mistakes. Such pursuits mean that the person involved works to become a warrior for peace by taming the beast within, serving as an example and guide to others.

Some of us don’t figure out what we’re capable of and how we affect the world around us until it’s too late. This Full Moon, granted that we are still alive and breathing shows us that we stand at some critical choice points toward what can make or break our future selves.

Mars in Scorpio 2014

Mars finally left Libra after a long seven month transit from December 7th of 2013 to July 7th of 2014. The turbulence of its Retrogradation from March 1st to May 19th of this year put many plans on hold and stirred the pot in both marital type and business relationships.

As of July 25th until September 13th Mars will be in Scorpio, a sign of its own domain, with the pursuit of hidden matters and radical transfiguration being highlighted. No matter where or toward what it is directed, its effects will have profound impact from the inside out.

Mars in Scorpio is both about “keeping it real” and keeping it raw. Nothing said or done half-cocked here. Whether focused on love, war, art, music, healing, or any scientfic endeavor, Mars in Scorpio moves head on, full force, and gets exactly to the point, in the most visceral possible ways. It can be so slick in its attack that most won’t even see it coming, but when it does make itself fully known its presence is impossible to ignore.

The first week of August, squaring up with Jupiter in Leo, Mars will either kick your ass hard or french kiss you when you’re least expecting it, or maybe throw a flame in your direction to see if you jump, just to see if you’re really alive. Do you feel something strong, and if so what is that? What moves you, drives you, ignites you? What is your passion? Anything less will not be of interest while Mars makes his way through the eighth sector of the zodiac.

Although Mars is associated with the god of war and Scorpio with the stormy seas, there is no need to fear that Leviathan will come to destroy what you hold dear, unless of you had it coming anyway. This combination can be the signature of one highly skilled in their endeavors, because they have both sharp intuition and incredible focus that they are able to channel toward it. Because of this, they make powerful healers, often able to both detect the cause of an imbalance and to address it very precisely. While in this sign, Mars lends all of us some of these abilities. Some of the most enduring works of art have been and can be produced with Mars in Scorpio.

The Sumerian queen of the underworld, Ereshikigal required her sister Inanna to leave behind a garment at each of the seven gates in her attempt to rescue (bring to life) her captive (already dead) lover. What came to her after the seventh gate was death by hanging, which is one of the most disturbing pre-Jesus “fairy tales” to haunt humanity. Mars in Scorpio can symbolically resemble this sequence in some aspect of our lives, in addition to Inanna’s resurrection by the aid of her servants.

Whatever our various walks in life may be, we should use this transit to more actively pursue our goals, to seek deeper clarification, and to make efforts to make right whatever has been going terribly wrong as far as we’re concerned. This does not mean to become meddlesome and poke into matters that we have no business poking into. It does however indicate that our chances of making signficant and palpable change is higher now than at other times.

A few of the people I have long admired with Mars in Scorpio are Edward Bach, Bruce Lee, Deepak Chopra and Jimi Hendrix. As we have seen, they are all people who have made great impact in their work and livelihoods that have stood the tests of time.

With Mars in Scorpio pick your passion instead of your poison, and move steadily onward. Even when out of ordinary view, there is a solution to every problem. The more of us who think and act this way, the less devastation there will be on our planet.
