There are many foods, minerals and supplements that people may find very helpful this month to unwind and replenish during the transit of Mercury Retrograde in Virgo and the intense activity of the eclipses.

The sign of Virgo relates to physical health, diet, exercise, hygiene, organization and work. It rules the large intestines and nerves. Challenges to planets in Virgo can cause a wide range of physical symptoms from indigestion to insomnia, nervous exhaustion, and toxic overload.

Magnesium is meant to be an abundant mineral in the human body. Like water itself, when insufficient a huge list of ailments can manifest leading to degeneration. There was a time in my life when my anxiety was so incapacitating that each day was spent in agonizing misery and anxiety that felt like I was going to suffocate from lack of oxygen and heart palpitations any minute. This discomfort continued for hours, sometimes days and weeks.

When I began taking a magnesium supplement I was amazed at what began to occur in my body. It was not a cure-all but it definitely shifted my perspective, my heart rate, my breathing, my posture, and my ability to function. I’d say that it did quite a bit to improve my condition!

Another supplement that I highly recommend for those who have been stressed to the max lately is B12.

Mercury Retrograde in Taurus

Well that dreaded tri-annual, month-long period known as Mercury Retrograde is here again: April 28th – May 22nd.

I’ve said it so many times before and many of us have heard it from countless sources by now, thanks to the ever-expanding internet. It’s that time of year when things and communications just seem to break down, go berserk, lose their juice, get mismatched, befuddled, and the list of woeful occurrences just goes on. But why is that? There is always a reason for the things that happen in life, and too few are willing to plunge into what those reasons are, because it would inevitably entail taking on a deeper level of responsibility and consciousness in how to respond to life’s curve balls.

What if we recognized Mercury Retrograde as an opportunity to improve and release things and patterns that are no longer useful – if we broke out of these mindsets of doom, skepticism, and egotism and create a new paradigm of what Mercury (and anything else for that matter) means to us? That’s the point. We make it more and more of what it is with our repetitive thoughts and actions.

Mercury appears to be going backward the sign of Taurus, emphasizing a review of our finances, assets, and self-worth. This is not an ideal time to spend big, gamble, or stand in the way of conflicts. Insecurity in all of its myriad shades could be at an all-time peak. Debts may either be incurred or paid off. We’ll thank ourselves later if we cultivate the gifts we already have rather than seek to acquire a bunch of new things and skills.

If you know your time of birth and have a natal chart to refer to, check the house that Mercury will be transiting to better understand what specific area of your own life is undergoing release, reconstruction, and reconnection during the next few weeks.

Tips on how to cope with and make optimal use of the cycle of Mercury Retrograde:

  • Simplify wherever possible – cut down on excess emails, outings, junk or whatever drains you
  • Resume an old project that is particularly meaningful and currently relevant to you
  • Call an old friend or visit a family member you haven’t seen in ages
  • Take care of your health and especially your nervous system – meditation helps
  • Back up any important digital data on an external hard drive
  • Double-check travel tickets, contracts, bank statements and other docs – are they accurate?
  • If a comment sounds ridiculous, callous or cruel let it roll off like water off a duck’s back
  • Laugh that stuff off…don’t take minor problems too seriously – this too shall pass!

Autumn Equinox 2015

We enter the Autumn season on September 23rd with the Sun in Libra joining the North Node, asteroid Juno and Black Moon Lilith, casting a subtle yet revealing light into the shadow side of relationships for healing, resolution, renewal, and in some cases release. Mercury, further along in Libra moves Retrograde while Libra’s ruling planet Venus makes her way out of a Retrograde shadow in Leo, forming a fire trine with Uranus in Aries and with asteroids Pallas Athene (goddess of art and war) and Eurynome (daughter of Oceanus, representing the sea) in Sagittarius. A warrior aspect of the divine feminine is in full effect, but not necessarily in a warring way. This week she is getting more of a kick out of expressing all her quirks, hilarity, virtuosity, daring, and creativity without holding back or offering any sort of apologies.

She is seeking to gain our undivided attention but without words. She is encouraging us to dance with life’s infinite possibilities, to look beneath the surface of things for answers and inspiration…

after all, Mercury retrograde signals a time for looking within. There are many fascinating worlds within worlds, mirages within mirages, and we are made of billions of atoms, our lungs expanding and contracting as does the star system we inhabit.

Venus, the Morning Star, named after the goddess of love, beauty, and pleasure is regaining her equilibrium after a long violent storm and showing us how to do the same. Inconjunct to Chiron in Pisces, she wants us to play with the edginess we might be feeling, and not take every little uncomfortable thing so seriously. We would do well to appreciate our selves and pat ourselves on the back for coming as far as we have, surmounting obstacle after obstacle, through tears and laughter, living to tell the tales.

With the Moon void-of-course conjunct asteroid Ceres in Capricorn, the day begins with a bit of a heavy note, as people are extra sensitive to their surroundings, very much aware of any areas of lack or displacement. In the wake of the tragic loss of refugees, the aftermath of earthquakes and ferocious fires, we are faced with the sobering reality of our mortality, the fragility of our earthly shells. There is a silver lining to the dark cloud above us, but we must seek it out. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but we must be willing to walk there. Jupiter in Virgo lends a pair of helping hands in cleaning up many of the messes we’ve found ourselves in. The asteroid Ostara, named after the goddess of Spring is also conjunct the Moon and Ceres, which makes for an interesting parallel of opposites, as it is the beginning of Spring in the southern hemisphere.

Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn has just recently reentered Sagittarius until December 2017, and political pressure is in the air. Most of of us have been warned at an early age to be careful of mixing religion and politics into conversations, but they are also shoved in our faces incessantly, without so much as offering a brief respite from a constant barrage of what we’re supposed to think, do, and accept as slaves and as truth. Well, that boat is about to topple over.

As for the Moon again, I have long had this theory that the VOC moons each vibrate certain frequencies in a sign that are quite different than when the moon is making major aspects, and not just in a “nothing will come of this” way. There are spiritual frequencies that become more accessible to those who are receptive to them. It has come to my attention that the VOC moon in Capricorn favors contact with Pan and the faerie realm, often more readily when the moon is not VOC in this sign. It is also believed by some that the autumn equinox and season is one in which contact with the elusive unicorn is more easily made.

This would probably include contact with all sorts of elusive creatures that seem strange to us in our realm of existence. So, those of you with gentle yet weary souls, gather your creature comforts, whether visible or imagined, and remember that no matter where you are or what you’re going through:
